Organized by the Paul Morphy Chess Club under the Auspices of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka

                 On behalf of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, the Paul Morphy Chess Club, is organizing the PMCC Women’s Challenge a FIDE International Rating Women’s Chess event with a total prize fund in excess of Rs. 300,000 /= in cash prizes, to coincide with the International Women’s Day.

Venue :

Public Library Auditorium (PL) and the Air Conditioned Royal College Union (RCU) Auditorium Colombo.

Eligibility:

Open for all Women Chess Players

Prizes :

All amounts in Sri Lankan Rupees. Champion

– Trophy, Gold Medal & Rs. 60,000/= 1 st Runner up

– Silver Medal & Rs. 40,000/= 2 nd Runner up

– Bronze Medal & Rs. 30,000/=

– 4 th – Rs. 25,000/=

– 5 th – Rs. 20,000/=

– 6 th & 7th – Rs. 10,000/= each

– 8 th to 15th – Rs. 6,000/= each

Rating category 1400 to 1700, Below 1400 & Unrated Categories Separately

First – Gold Medal & Rs. 5,500/=

Second – Silver Medal & Rs. 3,500/=

Third – Bronze Medal & Rs. 3000/=

Under 08, 10, 12 & 15 Age Groups Separately

First – Gold Medal & Rs. 5,000/=

Second – Silver Medal & Rs. 3,000/=

Third – Bronze Medal &Rs. 2,000/=

Players are eligible for one prize only.

Cash Prizes will be shared. 1USD = 131 Sri Lanka Rupees (LKR)

All participants will be provided with certificates.

Tie Breaks :

Direct Encounter, Cut 1 Bucholz, Cut 2 Bucholz, Progressive Score.

Accommodation :

All foreign players with the ELO rating of 2000 or more will be provided accommodation.

All other foreign players are charged with 120 USD per person for accommodation only.

Anyone needing A/C Accommodation should pay USD 150 for the period.

If players are able to find alternate accommodation they are free to do so. We will assist if requested.

AC accommodation typically costs around 40 USD per night in Colombo in boutique hotels and apartments. The cost of accommodation for accompanying persons will be borne by the individual players.

Travel Grant :

WIMs and WGMs with ELO of 2200 will be given a travel grant of Rs. 15,000/=. Please confirm with organizer.

Entry Fee :

All players having a

Rating of above 2000 : Rs 1500/=.

Rating 1700 to 2000 : Rs. 2 000/=

Rating 1700 or less : Rs. 2 500/=

Unrated players : Rs. 3 500/=

All amounts are in Sri Lankan Rupees. 1USD = 131 Sri Lanka Rupees (LKR)

Entries Close on 28th February 2015 21:30

All Entries should include FIDE Id. Entries should include a scanned copy or photo of the deposit slip of the Relevant Entry Fee credited to Paul Morphy Chess Club Account at Sampath Bank – 109160892673

All local players who should be registered with the CFSL for 2015.

Late Fee:

Rs. 1000/= will be charged for the entries received after 28th of February 2015.

This applies for all local players, who can register even via Email.

All Players will have to sign the player Entry Form and abide by its terms. For Children under 18 a parent or legal guardian will have to sign. Without the signed declaration being provided at the start of the first round players will not be allowed to play.

Appeals:

All appeals should be submitted in writing and accompanied by Rs 500 Appeal Fee. If the Appeal is upheld it will be returned to the player.

Swiss Manager Program will be used for pairings.

The tournament will be held under FIDE and CFSL Rules.

Players are reminded that they are not allowed to communicate while games are in progress.

The top 30 Games Winners are kindly requested to help the Arbiter in entering their game into PGN. This voluntary assistance is greatly appreciated.
