17th ASEAN+ Age-Groups Chess Championships 2016 Qualification

(Chiang Mai)

 

Thailand Chess Association together with Chiang Mai Mind Sport Club will organize the 17th ASEAN+ Age-Groups Chess Championships 2016 Qualification which is open to all players, including non-Thai juniors who study in Thailand. The tournament will be held during 25 – 28 March 2016 at Pantip Plaza Chiang Mai.

 

  1. Categories
    • Open Category Under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20.

 

 

 

  1. Participants
    • Players who are entitled to participate must not have reached the relevant ages before 1st January 2016.

  1. Tournament System and Time Control
    • A 7-round Swiss System shall be used in this tournament. (In the case where there are not more than 8 players, a round-robin system shall be used.)

 

 

 

 

Also, the player who misses any round of play without notifying the arbiter in advance in writing shall be subjected to disciplinary action, whereby he/she shall be obligated to make payment of deposit at Baht 500.00 for any future tournament held or jointly held by TCA. Repeated offence shall be tantamount to increased deposit by two folds.

 

 

 

For non FIDE-rated players. TELO (Thai ELO) rating system shall apply. Results will also be sent for TELO calculations.

 

 

 

 

  1. Medals
    • Certificates shall be awarded to players who competed 5 rounds or more.

 

 

 

 

  1. Tie-Breaks

 

For Swiss Pairings System:

  1. Direct Encounter
  2. Buchholz Cut 1
  3. Buchholz
  4. Greater Number of Wins with Black Pieces
  5. Greater Number of Wins
  6. Play-off (Time control and Number of games shall be based on best judgement by the Chief Arbiter.)

For Round Robin System:

  1. Direct Encounter
  2. Greater Number of Wins with Black Pieces
  3. Greater Number of Wins
  4. Play-off (Time control and Number of games shall be based on best judgement by the Chief Arbiter.)

 

  1. Appeals Committee
  2. The Appeals Committee shall comprise 3 persons who will be appointed at the Technical Meeting.

 

  1. A protest against a decision of an Arbiter must be submitted in writing to the Chief Arbiter, within 15 minutes after the end of the relevant playing session. In submitting a protest, a fee of Baht 2,000.00 (Two Thousand Baht) shall be paid to the Appeals Committee, which is refundable if the protest is upheld.  The Appeals Committee, however, may decide to refund the fee if it considers that the appeal was not frivolous.

 

  1. The decision of the Appeals Committee shall be final and binding immediately.

 

  1. Registration and Entry Fees

There is no entry fee.

 

Players who wish to participate in the tournament can submit their application forms at Chiang Mai Mind Sport Club or by email to pinklotus09@yahoo.com not later than 22nd March 2016. Late registrations shall only be accepted for play from round 2 onwards.
